Sydney’s contemporary art scene is in the spotlight this March, with the return of Art Month Sydney. Running from 1 – 25 March, the third annual festival includes more than 300 artists, 200 events and 100 galleries scattered across the city.
There’s a new iPad application to guide visitors through the packed program of exhibitions, talks, gallery tours on foot and by bicycle. Every Thursday and Friday galleries in weekly focus arts precincts will open late, keeping the streets buzzing with art bars featuring DJs and live artist performances.
2012 Artistic Director, Eliza Muldoon, believes Art Month Sydney is about engaging Sydneysiders with the work of contemporary artists: “We’d like both newcomers and art lovers alike to join the celebration of Sydney’s thriving arts industry.”
