On May 8th 2013, the evening before the Cruise Collection show which will take place at Loewen Cluster on the Dempsey hill, Karl Lagerfeld unveiled his two new short films Women Only and Once Upon a Time… during a private screening at the Raffles Hotel in Singapore.

The Palm Court, a charming interior courtyard at this legendary hotel, was chosen as the theatrical backdrop for the screening. Within this verdant showcase, where Charlie Chaplin and Somerset Maugham once wrote beneath the shade of the palm trees, the guests were invited to enjoy a preview of these two short films, followed by a tropical interlude during the cocktail party.

Bill Henson is one of Australia’s leading contemporary artists. A master of light and dark in the tradition of the great European masters, he brings together in his work the formal and classical with the gritty, casual dramas of the everyday. His powerful and edgy photographs are both painterly and cinematic.

Henson’s work has been shown in the public domain since 1975, when he held his first solo show at the National Gallery of Victoria. Since then he has exhibited widely both nationally and internationally, including solo exhibitions at the Museum Moderner Kunst in Vienna, the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris, and the Centro de Fotografia in Spain. In 1995 Henson represented Australia at the Venice Biennale. A comprehensive survey of his work was staged at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney and the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne in 2005. Henson’s work has been included in group exhibitions worldwide at prestigious venues such as the Guggenheim Museum, New York, the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. Two major monographs have been published on Bill Henson’s work, Mnemosyne (2005) and Lux et Nox (2002).

World-class beachfront bar; trio of restaurants; 500sq metre emerald blanket lawn and an infinity pool in a divine Balinese destination with views across the Indian Ocean…What more could you need? With an established restaurant in Jakarta already, Potato Head’s expansion plans include a boutique hotel scheduled to open on 2013. Located in the hip area of Seminyak, Potato Head Beach Club is one of Bali’s most prestigious addresses. Its towering elliptical façade, an art installation in its own right, was designed by acclaimed architect Andra Matin as a modern take on the Coliseum. The beautifully engineered amphitheatre’s trademark of mismatched vintage shutters is only the first thing that makes this deeply stylish space stand out. The splendour of the place is matched triumphantly with international cuisines and innovative cocktails served up by the chefs and mixologists, rightfully earning Potato Head its place as one of the top destinations to check out in Bali. We are really excited to see the results of their newest endeavour.

Sydney’s annual festival of light, music and innovation is back from the 25th May – 11th June. The artist driven festival, in its fourth year will once again transform Sydney into a canvas of creativity and inspiration.

Vivid has become Sydney’s major winter festival with free and ticketed events at the Sydney Opera House, Museum of Contemporary Art, Circular Quay, the Rocks and now extending to the Walsh Bay precinct for the first time.

Thirteen new installations will form the Walsh Bay Light Walk, curated by Sydney Dance Company’s resident multimedia artist Peter Greg. Set to be an immersive cinematic experience, the walk takes visitors from pier 1 to 9 on a journey of creativity and innovation, offering interactive pathways flooded with luminous colours and astounding sculptures.

A fractured heart created by the Illuminart team and ARIA Award winning performer Gotye alone is something not to be missed. Combining dazzling animations with unique musical notes when played as a harp by the audience, the interactive instrument is said to be a highlight of the walk.

The full Vivid Sydney program is available at http://vividsydney.com

Sydney has a new star this season, in the form of a dining sensation; The Star’s new contemporary Japanese restaurant and bar, Sokyo. It’s fresh, bold and sexy, so perfect for any true Sydney dweller; the design is modern and functions perfectly as a hip bar, a cool sunken restaurant or an intimate dining experience.

You can expect spectacular flavours in the traditional Kaiseki style or a multi-course Japanese dinner created by Chase Kojima, formerly of Nobu restaurants and his international Sokyo kitchen. The menu redefines Japanese food; Chase creates new twists on traditional classics whilst also introducing his diners tastebuds to new favourites that they won’t be able to experience anywhere, but at Sokyo. The menu consists of sashimi, tempura, signature dishes, robata, soups, salads, plus nigiri and sushi rolls, complemented by a selection of quality wines and sakés. All of which will be offered to diners individually straight off the menu or in the Sokyo tailored manner where the restaurants staff will take you on a journey through Japanese cuisine and culture.

The restaurant itself is sleek and polished with a dynamic hyper-modern Japanese theme and dramatic splashes of colour.

Sokyo is a ‘must go’ for anyone looking for a new generation of dining with traditional essence.

Sydney’s contemporary art scene is in the spotlight this March, with the return of Art Month Sydney. Running from 1 – 25 March, the third annual festival includes more than 300 artists, 200 events and 100 galleries scattered across the city.

There’s a new iPad application to guide visitors through the packed program of exhibitions, talks, gallery tours on foot and by bicycle. Every Thursday and Friday galleries in weekly focus arts precincts will open late, keeping the streets buzzing with art bars featuring DJs and live artist performances.

2012 Artistic Director, Eliza Muldoon, believes Art Month Sydney is about engaging Sydneysiders with the work of contemporary artists: “We’d like both newcomers and art lovers alike to join the celebration of Sydney’s thriving arts industry.”

The owners Richie and Cinners have designed the inspirational space with dim lighting, religious imagery and home made crocheted tablecloths whilst using Bruno, the namesake of one of their fathers as the name for their new Italian haven.

Inspired by relaxing sea-side living; á la the Hamptons, which, unsurprisingly is the name of one of their latest and most divine collections, Baume & Mercier provide a memorable experience through their time pieces.

With each watch Baume & Mercier endeavour to evoke a vivid memory of a milestone in life, a right of passage and other unforgettable moments that imprint on our minds. The deeply intricate philosophy of watch making and the importance of lifestyle and family have set this already prestigious timepiece house apart from the rest. A watch is to keep the time, but Baume & Mercier keep the memory.

The watchmaker that provides everyone access to a lifestyle that is built on the value of shared moments celebrated advent on facebook last christmas as they reached an incredible level of 200,000 fans.
