On May 8th 2013, the evening before the Cruise Collection show which will take place at Loewen Cluster on the Dempsey hill, Karl Lagerfeld unveiled his two new short films Women Only and Once Upon a Time… during a private screening at the Raffles Hotel in Singapore.

The Palm Court, a charming interior courtyard at this legendary hotel, was chosen as the theatrical backdrop for the screening. Within this verdant showcase, where Charlie Chaplin and Somerset Maugham once wrote beneath the shade of the palm trees, the guests were invited to enjoy a preview of these two short films, followed by a tropical interlude during the cocktail party.

Following, Venice, Saint-Tropez, Cap d’Antibes and the Bosquet des trois fontaines in Versailles, Karl Lagerfeld presented the CHANEL 2013/14 Cruise collection in Dempsey Hill, Singapore. With its eternal summer, tropical vegetation and exotic trips and journeys, Singapore is the ideal platform for this spring ritual.

Disused buildings were redesigned with an air of the tropics with long galleries below the roofs, black and white blinds and refreshing whitewashed walls. As night fell Karl Lagerfeld took guests on a journey through time with his collection that mixes Mademoiselle Chanel in Deauville in 1913 with a colonial style.

Taking inspiration from one of the defining movements of the 20th Century, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars proudly presents a selection of Ghost and Phantom family cars celebrating the Art Deco era.

Hand-fashioned stainless steel inlays in telephone drawer, door cappings and rear picnic table backs subtly evoke the decorative style of the period. An echo of the rich heritage of the marque also lies in the Art Deco-style geometric coachline pattern – a design conceived and used by Rolls-Royce on a show stand at Olympia in the early 20th century.

In his debut prêt-a-porter collection for the house of Christian Dior, Creative Director, Raf Simons explores liberation themes both historical to the house and personal to himself.
Christian Dior established his house in 1947 and bucked fashioned trends prevalent during WW2 of a simplified, masculine style. Embracing the feminine body in silhouettes together with movement, lightness, transparency and playfulness are key to the prêt-a-porter. Looking back to go forward and daring to disrupt the purity of shape and convention is at the heart of the house of Christian Dior.

Bill Henson is one of Australia’s leading contemporary artists. A master of light and dark in the tradition of the great European masters, he brings together in his work the formal and classical with the gritty, casual dramas of the everyday. His powerful and edgy photographs are both painterly and cinematic.

Henson’s work has been shown in the public domain since 1975, when he held his first solo show at the National Gallery of Victoria. Since then he has exhibited widely both nationally and internationally, including solo exhibitions at the Museum Moderner Kunst in Vienna, the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris, and the Centro de Fotografia in Spain. In 1995 Henson represented Australia at the Venice Biennale. A comprehensive survey of his work was staged at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney and the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne in 2005. Henson’s work has been included in group exhibitions worldwide at prestigious venues such as the Guggenheim Museum, New York, the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. Two major monographs have been published on Bill Henson’s work, Mnemosyne (2005) and Lux et Nox (2002).

Creativeness grows from the depths of SoHo. In New York’s renowned neighbourhood, art is not only hung in exquisite galleries but also painted in vibrant hues across the lanes and alleys. A melting pot of eclectic personalities,, where races and cultures merge. Etro pays homage to SoHo in the brand’s new fragrance Greene Street, which brings together tradition and alchemy of natural ingredients to create a heady, spicy potion for not only today’s man, but for women, thanks to its seductive aspects. The scent gives suggestions of the Orient with notes of fresh Grand Vert basil, Caribbean and Indonesian nutmeg and pink peppercorn. As it settles on the skin, it evolves into a sophisticated fragrance with hints of springtime violets, mint-tinged geraniums and sun-drenched notes of highly sought after Ambergris. Greene Street is available in stores now.

News of the chaos and destruction caused by Hurricane Sandy has now reached many corners of the world. A large number of people across areas of New York, New Jersey, Cuba and the Caribbean islands have been and continue to be affected. Possessions, homes and even lives have been lost as a result.

The conditions in many of our local areas are dire. During just one day of volunteering in the Rockaways, we learned that most people still have no heat, water, lights and, in many cases, gas to cook with. Most recently they are also in serious need of medicine. As these freezing temperatures continue to drop, they and their children are starting to get sick.Part of the philosophy behind Temps De Reves has always been to bring a new life and function to moments captured in the past, through photography. The photographs chosen for this collection, ‘When Sandy Came To Town’, are iconic images that will not only serve as a means of telling the Sandy story, but will also remind us of how fragile our planet and infrastructure really is.

In light of this event, Temps De Reves is launching a special, limited edition collection of scarves to assist with the Sandy relief projects. 100% of proceeds will be donated to helping those people most in need. We have two different scarves for you to choose from. Please select your favorite design and proceed to the store to help those affected.

In the beginning, there was cobalt and kaolin. Then came Ming porcelain which evolved from being the preserve of Chinese Emperors to winning over Europe’s princely courts as early as the Sixteenth Century.

The colour of peace but, above all, a tint that has the power to combine everyday life with all the imaginative power of travel on your table. In Hermes creations for The House, the designs are directly inspired by nature. Nothing is rigid in these plates and cups. Here, geometric abstraction is the logical conclusion to this history of “blue-and-white”, made of endless comings and goings between Europe and the East.
