Vivid Sydney Festival

Sydney’s annual festival of light, music and innovation is back from the 25th May – 11th June. The artist driven festival, in its fourth year will once again transform Sydney into a canvas of creativity and inspiration.

Vivid has become Sydney’s major winter festival with free and ticketed events at the Sydney Opera House, Museum of Contemporary Art, Circular Quay, the Rocks and now extending to the Walsh Bay precinct for the first time.

Thirteen new installations will form the Walsh Bay Light Walk, curated by Sydney Dance Company’s resident multimedia artist Peter Greg. Set to be an immersive cinematic experience, the walk takes visitors from pier 1 to 9 on a journey of creativity and innovation, offering interactive pathways flooded with luminous colours and astounding sculptures.

A fractured heart created by the Illuminart team and ARIA Award winning performer Gotye alone is something not to be missed. Combining dazzling animations with unique musical notes when played as a harp by the audience, the interactive instrument is said to be a highlight of the walk.

A New Chapter For Baume et Mercier

As a new chapter unfolds for Baume et Mercier in 2012 so does a new venture. The first boutique in China launched this year marking a great transition for the brand as it’s the first Baume et Mercier house to open in the Asia region. The boutique located in Chongqing Time Square reflects the chic understated Hampton’s living in its décor. Baume et Merciers key values of sharing, authenticity and continuity are evident in the ambience, which allows visitors to feel at home- as they would do in The Hampton’s, whilst being immersed into the Baume et Mercier inspiration.

CEO Alain Zimmermann headed the inauguration event and cut the ribbon himself alongside famous celebrity Ms Dong Jie, an actress close to the brand and Miss Universe China Roseline Luo who performed the novelties of 2012 which were launched in China in April.

To commemorate the opening, the 2012 new collection exhibition arrived in store; a special privilege for the boutique as it was the first appearance for the collection after Geneva.

With a 182- year history of exquisite watchmaking Baume et Mercier offers a rich heritage and cutting edge style that results in timeless keepsakes for all of those pivotal occasions.

The 18th Biennale of Sydney

“Audiences will experience involvement, responsiveness, and liveliness…” ~ Co-Artistic Director Gerald.
“It is a global movement of art and thought that has been under the radar and now emerges as radical and dynamic…” ~ Co-Artistic Director Catherine de Zegher.

Presenting an expansive collection of contemporary art from more than one-hundred of the world’s esteemed artists, the 18th Biennale of Sydney invites audiences to connect, emphasize, and engage in Australia’s largest contemporary visual arts event. With works such as Thai artist Nipan Oranniwesna’s maps of ten different metropolises in ‘City of Ghost’(20007), the Biennale zooms in on the state of the world and drives towards change. Titled ‘All Our Relations’ and hosted by high profile museums Art Gallery of New South Wales and Museum of Contemporary Art and other venues, it will be presented free to the public from 27 June until 16 September 2012. Celebrating their 39th anniversary, the Biennale of Sydney welcomes for the first time Carriageworks as their presenting partner. This collaboration will be explored through a series of contemporary dance performances debuting from September 11th to the 15th.

Since its inception in 1973, the Biennale has been an international platform for innovative art and storytelling.
“Telling stories connects us…it aggregates knowledge and generates new ideas; it ignites change; and, ultimately, builds community…taking their stories home and beyond…”
